Albis Promoted to Assistant Majority Leader in General Assembly

State Rep. James Albis, an East Haven native, was also named the vice chairman of the Environment Committee, House Democrats announced Thursday.

The following is a press release from the Connecticut House Democrats.

State Representative James Albis (D-East Haven), elected to a second term in November, has been promoted by Speaker of the House-Designate Brendan Sharkey (D-Hamden) to serve as an Assistant Majority Leader and Vice Chairman of the Environment Committee.

As an Assistant Majority Leader, Rep. Albis will be working on developing and passing the 2013 legislative agenda.

The Environment Committee has cognizance of all matters relating to the Department of Environmental Protection, including conservation, recreation, pollution control, fisheries and game, state parks and forests, water resources and flood and erosion control; and all matters relating to the Department of Agriculture, including farming, dairy products and domestic animals.

"I am honored to be appointed an Assistant Majority Leader and Vice Chairman of the Environment Committee," Rep. Albis said. "The work of the Environment Committee is critical to coastal area issues, expanding open space and preserving our quality of life. I want to thank the residents of the 99th Assembly District for giving me the opportunity to again serve them."

Rep. Albis was also reappointed to the Finance Revenue and Bonding and Judiciary Committees.

I have NEVER seen anyone say SO LITTLE and use so many misspelled words to say it.......A genuine MORON. "ASmith 12:57 am on Friday, January 4, 2013 Yup he represents the folks in East Haven and the majority of those folks voted for em,so I guess the majority of folks think he is a doin ok. If yall didnt vote for em last time, no law says ya have to next time. so iffin ya dont like how he votes, dont vote for em, but if the majority of folks vote for em, then they must agree with his views. so does he changes his views and votin record to please the minority or does he stick with the majority who gave em the job to begin with. " These are the kind of posts that truly make our town look so ridiculous to outsiders. They read these incompetent rants from this fool, and think we are all some inbred hillbillies.

Interesting story in the NHR today. Ct ranks 7th over-all in people fleeing the state. Gee, could it be the high cost of property taxes, the high cost of gas, extremely high corporate taxes that drive company's out as well. In general, Ct is a tax and spend state, yes all states are, but this state likes to spend millions upon millions of non-existent money. They just can't help themselves and it will only get worse. Maybe Mr. Albis, and yes Mr. Fasano, can come up with a plan to stop this exit. Very simple, stop spending what you don't have. Change the tax structure to make owning a business profitable. You and I start writing checks with funds we don't have is called fraud and end up in front of a judge. BUT NO not a government, be it municipal, state, or federal. They just keep right on spending what they don't have.

Thanks Richard! I agree. He's voted down the party line since being elected. And I believe he's jeopardized CT residents safety not only w/repealing the death penalty, but also the early release program that has already cause 2 deaths by inmates let out early! The other thing is that no one would know who James wasif it wasn't for his last name. HE didn't win the election, his NAME won him the election.

Mr Poulton: There are many voters in East Haven who feel James did vote exactly as WE THE PEOPLE wanted on every one of these issues. These people elected him.
