What Are Your Suggestions for Fixing the NBPD?

The pressure is on the Town Council to fix the state of the North Branford Police Department and while the subject’s hot, take your turn to suggest what you’d like to see done to the department.

If you see something around town you’d like to discuss with your neighbors, e-mail nicole.ball@patch.com.

At last week’s North Branford Police Commission meeting, Anthony DeLuise, a patrol officer and president of the NBPD officers' union implored leaders to find a way to fund improvements to the police department's headquarters on Forest Road.

He is not alone in his hope to fix the department. Interim Town Manager Bonnie Therrien publicly stated during a special Town Council meeting last month that the department's headquarters "is a dump."

According to reports, the department’s septic system has failed and the department's 911 room takes on water during heavy rains storms among other issues.

In recent news, North Branford Fire Chief William Seward also make the decision to move the town's Emergency Operation Center to the Town Hall from the Police Department; the Town Council voted that it stay at the police department.

What are your thoughts for town officials? Do you think the Police Department should be renovated?
