North Branford superintendent of schools, Scott Schoonmaker, updates us on town news and some fun stuff, too!

It's week two of our . This week, in addition to finding out what's new in different departments and something residents need to know, we're asking "What's your favorite movie?" 

North Branford Patch: What’s new in your department?
Superintendent Scott Schoonmaker: Group Work Camps is using NBIS has their home base.  Group Work Camps consists of approximately 400 young adults who are completing outreach projects in Northford/North Branford as well as surrounding communities. It is a pleasure to accommodate and work with these outstanding young adults as they give back to our community and those who are in need of assistance.

North Branford Patch: What's something residents should know?
Schoonmaker:
The first day of school for the 2012/2013 school year is Wednesday, August 29th, 2012. School start time at Jerome Harrison will be 10
minutes later (from 8:50 to 9:00 a.m.) to accommodate safe travel for the
additional full day kindergarten students.

North Branford Patch: What's your favorite movie?
Schoonmaker: "Remember the Titans" during segregation in the South — a true life lesson of how a high school football team learns many lessons that are far more important than the score of a football game.
