North Branford Patch: What's new in your department this week?
Schoonmaker: The Hiring of Michael Augur as food service supervisor. He has a wealth of experience that will move the district forward. Also, the hiring of a math teacher at NBHS, a guidance counselor at NBIS and a life skills teacher at NBIS. We are while transitioning into the more challenging and rigorous expectations of the Common Core State Standards.

North Branford Patch: What's something residents need to know?
Schoonmaker: It is vital that students continue to read during the summer months and in order to keep up with their reading list expectations as summer is quickly fading away!

North Branford Patch: What's your favorite thing about summer?
Schoonmaker: The !  I have the opportunity to see both teachers and students outside of the classroom engaged in fun, healthy activities while building true relationships and great summer memories!
