North Branford Superintendent of Schools Scott Schoonmaker talks about the start of the new year and his start in the working world.

efore our town officials were, well, town officials, they had other jobs. Think back to your first-ever job. Ever wonder where our town officials, like North Branford's Director of Libraries Bob Hull, got their start in the working world?

North Branford Patch: What's new in your department?
Schoonmaker: All high school and middle school . Please come out and support our student-athletes.

North Branford Patch: What's something residents should know?
Schoonmaker: Student drivers and busses are now sharing the roads with commuters. Please be mindful of children at bus stops and busses on the roads making stops.

North Branford Patch: What was your first job?
Schoonmaker: A dishwasher in Mystic at age 15. To date, I still don't like to do dishes!
