Ada Chen and Madison Eddy have teamed up as part of ’s Student Council’s to raise money for Heifer International, which uses donations to give livestock to families in need to "help families improve their nutrition and generate income in sustainable ways," according to its website.

"Coming form a town known to have a lot of animals, we felt really connected to the idea of being able to raise your own animal and make a profit," said Chen. "Rather than just sending money so they can buy food once, the money gives them an animal like a cow that they can use for milk, which they can sell."

Team AM has a fundraising goal of $500 and will be visiting local businesses seeking donations. They also plan to host a photo booth during lunches.

"We'll have a backdrop and take pictures for donations," said Chen. "They we'll email students their pictures."

The team is also considering collecting cans and water bottles to return for deposits, looking to gather them from the school, their families and neighbors.

Looking into doing Stop and Shop fundraiser or recycling can/water bottles to raise money as well. From school or neighbors.

Chen is happy to be a part of her first official . Though she was not part of a team in 2010, her freshman year, she did help her friends' teams with donations and fundraising.

"It’s kind of overwhelming knowing you can make such a big contribution," said Chen. "It's really great because you not only feel better about yourself, but you’re helping other people and charities that need it."
