11:45 a.m. -12:45 p.m. How to Have a Care Free Garden:
Planting the Fittest-Sooner or later most of us gardeners fall in love with a blue poppy that would rather be in the Himalayas or a hybrid tea rose that looks fine at the nursery but develops every disease in the book the instant we plant it. Figuring out how to satisfy the needs of these fussy plants can be a rewarding challenge - or an exercise in frustration. Join Karen Bussolini as she shows us how to have a care free garden. Choosing plants that want to grow where we plant them is a good way to have a garden that provides more pleasure and less work. How to Have a Care Free Garden: Planting the Fittest is an exploration of good, tough, well-adapted plants and garden strategies for encouraging plants to survive beautifully in their gardens.
2:00-3:00 p.m. Understanding Organic Soil Building
Great gardens start with the best soils and fertilizers. Join Cameron Bonsey from Coast of Maine for a great seminar on the organic approach to building your soil for a beautiful garden. Their line of organically approved compost-based soils represents a real environmental win-win by finding important new uses for our region's natural resources and introducing their customers to a cost-effective alternative for growing beautiful, healthy gardens.
CASTING CALL on Saturday starting at 11am! Cameron from Coast of Maine is shooting several short videos at Natureworks on Saturday and we would LOVE for you to tell him why you shop at Natureworks and/or why you use Coast of Maine soils! If you let him shoot a quick clip of your reason he will give you a free bag (!!!) of Coast of Maine compost! Bring the kids too-this will be a fun day!

The best way to introduce gardening to children is to let them get their hands dirty! Let Natureworker Diane St. John teach your child all about soil and worms. Each child will then choose some seeds, plant them up and take them home to watch them grow! We supply the seeds, soil and pot to make this easy so kids of all ages can participate.
