The Week of the Young Child TM is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The purpose of the Week of the Young Child is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. The 2012 Week of the Young Child TM is April 22 -28 and the theme is Early Years are Learning Years. To call public attention to the importance of early childhood education, the North Branford Family Resource Center's Preschool sponsored their first annual "Paperdoll Project." Children attending local preschools, children's groups, library programs and child care centers were invited to create paperdolls, and businesses were asked to become a Paperdoll display site by adopting a group of paperdolls and hanging them, hand-in-hand, in store windows for the month of April. Finished paperdolls were distributed to display sites and are available for family viewing! We would like to thank the following schools, organizations, and businesses for their participation in our first annual "Paperdoll Project," and we are looking forward to a bigger celebration next year!
