It's Read Across America Day!

Deputy Republican Leader Vincent Candelora, who represents East Haven, North Branford and Wallingford, will be reading to Jerome Harrison students this afternoon in celebration of the event.

The National Education Association's Read Across America Day is celebrated annually on March 2, in honor of the birthday of Dr. Suess, who would have turned 107 today.

Since 1998, the NEA has been enlisting local leaders, mayors and presidents to read to children across our nation on March 2.

First lady Michelle Obama will reportedly be reading "Green Eggs and Ham" to the Library of Congress today. President Barack Obama made a proclamation yesterday about the annual reading holiday.
