Laurin Gagne Gives Big to YNHH Children's Hospital

As part of North Branford High School's 'Big Give,' junior Laurin Gagne is raising money for Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital in honor of family and friends.

Now a junior, this is Laurin Gagne’s first year involved in Student Council at . Not only is she involved, but she is the president of the junior class and in the midst of fundraising for her .

Gagne chose to raise money for Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital because many of Gagne’s family and friends have had surgeries or procedures done there.

“A lot of their lives were saved and I wanted to give back,” she said. “What amazes me is how nice they are. I really wanted to see the impact my fundraising has on my family members and my friends.”

Fundraising efforts are starting close to home for Gagne as many of her family members own local businesses. After collecting donations from them, she is planning to host a bake sale during the Jam for Project Graduation on Feb. 17.

“I love to bake so I figured I’d do something I love for something I want to help,” said Gagne, who also plans to sell baked goods during lunch periods.

In addition to fundraising, she also hopes to bring some entertainment to the hospital. with many friends also involved in music, she’d like to visit the hospital with guitars to play music for patients.

Gagne has set a fundraising goal of between $1,000 and $1,500. Though it’s a lofty aspiration, she plans to do “everything in my ability to reach that goal.” She is also honored to be a part of the .

“It means the world that Miss Byrd is doing this again,” said Gagne.
