Miket Makes Second Team All-Shoreline in High Jump

The North Branford girls' outdoor track team competed in the Shoreline Conference Championships last week.

On May 23, the traveled to Haddam Killingworth High School to compete in the Shoreline Conference Championship. The T-Birds scored 26 points for a 10th-place finish.

The meet was highlighted by co-captain Jordan Miket’s performance in the high jump. She cleared 4-10 to take second place and earn Second Team All-Shoreline honors. She was also a member of the fifth-place 4x100 relay team along with Natalie Baughan, Katelyn Pantera and Leah Martino (54.23). Miket also competed in the 400, taking 11th in 1:05.68.

Stephanie Torniero also scored for North Branford as her throw of 90-5 in the javelin was good for fourth place. Jessica Wharton took fifth in the shot put (27-10 ½), while Rachel Boyers was sixth in the 100 hurdles (17.27) and eighth in the long jump (14-11 ¾).

Several other athletes qualified for the meet in their respective events, including Baughan in the long jump (10th, 14-5 ½), Sara Olsen in the 200 (11th, 29.31), Jaimy Rippe in the shot put (10th, 23-10) and in the discus (10th, 69-5).

Two relay teams also qualified: the 4x800 team of McDonald, Chelsea Megher, Marissa Bale and Megan Oakes placed eighth (12:07.66) and the 4x400 team of Olsen, Bale, Hayley Gomez and Meagher placed 10th (5:00.17).
