North Branford Boys' Cross-Country Finishes Well at Wickham Invitational

The T-Birds' girls' cross-country team also showed improved times.

On Oct. 8, the North Branford cross-country team participated in the Wickham Invitational 5K (3.1 miles) at Wickham Park in Manchester with both the boys’ and girls’ teams entered in the Unseeded Division. The boys were among 404 runners and came in 28th place out of 50 schools entered. The girls competed in a field of 307 runners and placed 42nd place among 44 schools.

Kevin Walker led the boys’ team in the Varsity Unseeded Race as his time of 18:21 was good for 39th place. Jason Conforte was the next T-Bird across the line (114th, 19:29) followed by Ryan Proto (135th, 19:45), Sean O’Connor (149th, 19:55), Chris Olsen (267th, 21:38) and Ben Boatman (349th, 23:45).  

On the girls’ side, Marissa Bale was the top finisher for North Branford as she took 135th in 25:20. Other T-Bird finishers were Megan Rabuffo (167th, 26:06), Chelsea Meagher (207th, 27:35), Sydney Lane (225th, 28:32) and Meghan McCarthy (267th, 39:12).

In the Junior Varsity Race, boys’ finishers included Jared Miket in 219th (25:09), Justin Perrotti in 275th (27:39), Cole Perrotti in 281st (28:03) and Matt Gagliardi in 286th (28:36); while Grace Carr finished in 136th (31:58) for the girls’ JV squad.
