North Branford Evens Record at 1-1 with 18-7 Win Over Haddam-Killingworth

The T-Birds bounce back from tough opening loss to nip Cougars.

The North Branford Thunderbirds overcame a heart stopping in its season opener to beat Haddam-Killingworth at home last night 18-7.

The T-Birds bounced back from an early 7-6 deficit to score touchdowns in the second and third quarters on runs by junior Joe Delucia.

The Cougars relied on a strong running attack led by senior Dan German, who rolled around the left side late in the first quarter for a 28-yard touchdown run that put HK ahead with the extra point.

He also erupted for runs of 50 and 45 yards in the fourth quarter, but the Cougars were unable to convert the long gains into scores and the T-Birds held on for the win.

Both teams are 1-1. Next Friday and Haddam-Killingworth hosts Cromwell.
