Hey Spud– Ready to Run? 5th Annual PoCo 5K This Sunday!

Ever wonder what it would be like to try out a run off the pavement? This Sunday’s 5th Annual Spud Run at the Potato & Corn Festival gives you a chance to give trail-running a try.

Race chairman Floyd Parness says the 5K run is different than other local 5Ks because it "goes over rolling terrain, through fields and woods and over streams. The scenery is beautiful and it’s a challenging course.”

Parness is familiar with the course as this is the home course This is the home course for the North Branford High School cross-country teams, which he coaches.

The 5K begins at 9:30 a.m. and is open to runners and walkers with the first 150 participants receiving a T-shirt. There’s also a chance for kids under 12 to participate, too, with the 1-mile Tator Trot Fun Run, which will be run at 9 a.m., preceding the Spud Run.

Awards will be presented after the race.
