North Branford Cross-Country Hosts Cougar Invitational

On October 1, the North Branford cross-country team hosted the Haddam-Killingworth High School Cougar Invitational Cross-Country Meet on Augur Farm. Nine schools consisting of more than 200 runners from the Shoreline Conference entered the meet.  

First-place honors went to the Old Saybrook High School girls and the Haddam-Killingworth boys. Top individual winner for the boys was Christian Alberico from Coginchaug High School at 17:28.87 and for the girls was Maddie Brandon form Haddam-Killingworth at 20:39.22.

The North Branford boys' team came in third and the girls took sixth place. Senior co-captain Sean O’Connor came in 1st for the T-Birds' boys at 18:29.25 (8th overall) and co-captain Marissa Bale was first for the girls at 22:48.50 (12th overall).

Finishing for the boys team were Co-Captain Zach Augur in 18:56.09 (14th), Keane Regan in 19:16.92 (15th), Bobby Querfeld in 19:56.87 (25th), Richard Hernandez in 20:55.19 (50th), Isaac Cammarata in 20:55.38 (51st), Spencer Bryden in 21:30.76 (60th), Patrick Fisher in 22:58.74 (81st) and Austin Gibilisco in 23:26.02 (89th).  

The remaining girls finishing were Winnie Chan in 24:47.11 (26th), Kirsten Madoule in 25:14.59 (30th), Rachel Sauro in 25:59.60 (37th), Victoria Pawlak in 27:02.70 (47th), Alana Cotton in 27:47.56 (54th), Megan Oakes in 28:24.58 (59th), Jessica Munck in 31:43.21 (72nd), and Grace Carr in 33:53.75 (72nd).
