NBLL Opens 58th Season, Possibly Last at Wall Field

North Branford Little League held its annual parade and celebrations on April 21 to mark the start of the 2012 season.

North Branford Little League (NBLL) opened its 58th year of play on April 21, but not before all of the teams marched to the field for Opening Day celebrations. There are approximately 430 children who play for NBLL.

Despite some early morning clouds, the sun peeked through as family and friends lined the fences at Wall Field to watch North Branford's little ballplayers take the field.

With the of a new complex at the Swajchuk Property underway, this most likely marked the last-ever Opening Day at the present Wall Field.

After all of the teams marched to the field, State Senator Ed Meyer offered a blessing and town officials were thanked for their part in making the day possible.

Meyer and State Representative Vincent Candelora then presented awards to the and –both of which saw huge success at the state level last season (story and photos to follow).

Billy Mitchell, head coach of the , and three softball players threw the first pitch of the season to four baseball players before the day's games began.

Several contributed photos have already been added to our where you can add pictures or video at any time. You can also upload photos from Opening Day to this photo gallery by simply clicking 'Upload Photos' above or below the picture.

this is the 1st year playing in the n.b.l.l. came from the annex l.l.(COACH) in new haven,ct wish i stayed in the annex l.l. The ball park that the T-BALL plays on is not and should not be a ball park. NO LINES ON THE FIELD, NO PLACE FOR FANS TO SIT, NO PLACE TO GET FOOD AND DRINKS, in the annex all the teams play on the same fields it seems to me NO ONE CARES ABOUT THE T-BALL KIDS. I WISH I KNEW THIS BEFORE I CAME TO THIS LEAGUE WITH MY GRAND KIDS I AM NOT A COACH IN N.B.L.L. I AM GLAD OF THAT. ALL KIDS ARE NOT EQUAL IN NORTH BRANFORD,CONN LITTLE LEAGUE. WISH I COULD GIVE BACK THE UNIFORM FOR MY MONEY!
