Area Businesses Step Up to Help Maresca Family

North Branford's J.Witkowsky & Sons Logging & Firewood, Branford's Smedley Crane and Above the Ground donated their services to remove a tree for the Maresca family of North Branford.

Just days after the was posted, I received an email from Tiffanie Witkowsky, who said, “I was trying to get in touch with them to see if they still need the tree work done? …My husband does tree work and we would Love to help this family out!!”

Tiffanie got in touch with Phil’s wife Tanya and arranged a date to take the tree down.

Tiffanie’s husband John owns J.Witkowsky & Sons Logging & Firewood in North Branford. On Nov. 8, John and his sons, Jake and Josh, headed to the Maresca house to take care of the tree–but they had more help.

Jose Amaya–a friend of the Witkowsky’s who does climbing for John and owns Above the Ground in West Haven–donated his services. Bill Palmer from Smedley Crane in Branford donated the crane needed to take down the tree.

When Tiffanie met Tanya, they discovered that both Tiffanie and Phil grew up in the Short Beach area of Branford, as did Palmer from Smedley Crane.

“[It’s a] very small world–it was a nice coincidence,” said Tiffanie. “We just wanted to try to lift a little stress off them. I am so happy that my husband is able to do this for them and that Bill was able to help him out.”
