Your Guide to the Guilford Fair 2013
Everything you need to know about the Guilford Fair!!
By Lauren Lanzon
The Guilford Fair is upon us!! This Guilford tradition means fun for the whole family and runs September 20, 21, and 22 this year. Georgiana Stickley of the Guilford Fair told Patch that the Fair will have all of it's yearly fun including an appearance by the Flying Wallendas, who will be at the fair again this year.
"This high wire act is always a huge hit," Stickley told us. "They've been coming to the Fair for about 20 years now and always draw a crowd."
The Fair will have some new features too, including two new buildings. The first is a new Barnyard building that will house classes for kids to make scarecrows, decorate pumpkins, craft with duck tape and more.
"We'll offer about 20 classes in that new space," Stickley said. "And in the other new space, which is a new Pavilion, we will have some exhibits on display, such as photography and needlework."
Stickley also offered us some 'insider's tips' on navigating the Fair, particularly on Saturday, the day of the Citizen's parade which kicks off at 10 AM.
"The best thing to do on Saturday if you want to come to the fair starting in the morning is to park at the Fair first and then walk down to the parade," she told us. "That way when you're ready to head to the fair you don't have to worry about finding parking or driving around the parade. It just makes things easier."
She also let us know that during the three days the fair is running, traffic can get pretty heavy in the area and downtown.

"If you're heading somewhere on the Green, like Page's or the Food Center, be sure to head there early or give yourself some extra time," she concluded.
