Thank you so much for running this story. I have in the past, and currently deal with testRead More (performance) anxiety. It can be completely debilitating, obviously affecting grades and peoples perception (including my own) of how well I either pay attention or retain information. It is wonderful there is help out there for people in this situation.

I heard many positive comments from my daughter. Of course, besides placing so well, the best partRead More of the trip was knowing how far they have come since the beginning of the school year!

North Branford School System has some great dedicated teachers who day after day give the studentsRead More their undivided attention. Congratulations for your time and effort all year long!

Great article! I sent home a memo last week to all the children in my son's class asking them toRead More fill out a printed up sheet that started: "I like Mrs. L_____ because...", having the children (1st graders) finish the sentence on why they like their teacher. When I got them back I put them in a pretty little box I found at the Dollar store. I thought it would make an inexpensive, thoughtful keepsake for the teacher. I make sure I labeled it with the school's name & the year so she would have something to remember the kids by.
The opening shot from the San Diego twerking video.

It depends. What was the nature of the final project assignment? (I.E. topic, instructions,Read More context). School policies must also be considered. Personally, I think the punishment was harsh. But I do think the video was inappropriate for a school assignment. I think a more appropriate punishment would be a bad grade. On a side note, they are not very skilled at twerking.

So if our schools can be reimbursed why are they not providing breakfasts? I know the high schoolRead More offers breakfast and children participating in FRC programs can eat breakfast but what about the others? If our district has a high percentage of children on reduced or free lunches then they surely should get breakfast. We should not just be thinking about having a nutritious breakfast during CMTs or CAPT....

It's really not a question of should school breakfast be required, as much as it is a question ofRead More why Connecticut is not improving its participation. This program is federally funded, so schools that are severe need (there are three in North Branford) are reimbursed, just like the school lunch program. Parents receive notices from the school administrators to make sure our children have a nutritious breakfast before taking CMTs, and other exams, so they understand the connection between eating breakfast and improved academic performance. There are successful programs right here on the shoreline, so food service managers and school adminstrators don't have to reinvent the wheel. They can ask questions and learn from each other on how to make this a reality for kids who don't always have access to nutritious food.

James: You reread your comments, you haven't said anything substantive or relevant, nor have youRead More addressed any of my responses to you. Lynn: Thanks for another random personal attack. I am always so enlightened by your posts because they are so rational and insightful. (Oh and yes, that was sarcasm, by the way)
