LOCAL AMBASSADORS TO LEAD SOUTHERN CT ARTHRITIS WALK Cindy DeLillo is a recent graduate of Roger Williams University, where she majored in Marine Biology, and a double minor in Global Communications and Aquaculture! When Cindy was 16 she was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis a form of arthritis that affects the spine and sacroiliac joints at 22 she was also diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis. She lives every day in pain and suffers with many complications from this disease. One being lost of eye sight. Every 5 weeks she receives a 3 hour IV infusion of Remicade along with other medications to help with her arthritis. Cindy says she has an invisible disease that many do not understand. The healthy have the comfort of life without choices, a gift most people take for granted, but every day of her life is planned out according to how she has slept or how much energy was used the day before. Just getting ready in the morning can use half a day’s worth of energy. Life throws out many obstacles that challenge us every day and makes us want to give up but all we need to do is “Smile Through the Pain” and know we can overcome those obstacles and achieve great things.
