NBFD Knocks Down Fully Involved Structure Fire

The following is a press release from the NBFD.

North Branford firefighters responded to a two-story residential building fire early Saturday morning on Foxon Road.

The initial call reporting the fire was received into the North Branford Communications Center at 5:06 A.M. and within minutes, the first arriving fire units reported a fully involved vacant building. The fire building is adjacent to a large multi-story commercial structure at 999 Foxon Road and has been vacant for some time. The property is owned by the Tilcon Corporation.

Firefighters attacked the well involved fire in a defensive mode using aerial master streams and handlines. There were no exposures concerns to nearby properties and firefighters maintained a vigilant watch on embers released from the fire.

The fire occurred on a highly traveled Route 80 through town and because of the time of the incident, there was limited disruption with road closures.

Responding to the fire were Engine’s 1, 2, 3, 11 and 22, Aerial Tower 1, Rescues 11 and 22. Mutual aid station coverage to North Branford was provided by North Haven and East Haven Fire Departments.

According to Fire Chief William Seward, members of the Fire Marshal’s Office were on scene, however, due to the extent of damage to the building, the exact cause and origin of the fire remains undetermined. Officials confirmed all utilities were shut off at the time of the fire and the fire marshal’s office will continue their investigation into the incident.

There were no injuries and the road was reopened by 7:30 A.M.
