Stanley T. Conversion Awarded Additional $75K

At the December meeting of the Permanent Project Building Committee (PPBC), members voted to request an additional $75,000 from the North Branford Town Council for a contingency account for renovations to the Stanley T. Williams School as a Community Center.

The current cost for the project (full budget listed below) is already $485 above budget with the PPBC worried about contingency funds as “with the renovation of an older building, you have no idea what issues may arise from the project.”

The PPBC said the money would come from the closing out of several capital accounts from past years, and the remaining $40,000 from some of the surplus built up in the Recreation Revolving Fund.

The Council approved the PPBC’s request at the Dec. 11 meeting and the project is on track to be completed in April. Once complete, the Stanley T. Williams building will continue to be the home to the North Branford schools’ district offices. The North Branford Senior Center and North Branford Parks and Recreation/ Community Center will also be moved into the building.
