When Does School Start in North Branford for 2013-14?

It's been happening for weeks, seemingly earlier and earlier each year – back-to-school talk. With school getting out so late in 2012-13 thanks to hurricanes and snow days, it seemed like we were seeing back-to-school ads as soon as the kids stepped off the bus. 

And even though we're enjoying the height of summer, the 2013-14 school year is creeping closer. So when do students in the North Branford School District head back? Thursday, Aug. 29.

But they're only back for two days before getting Monday, Sept. 2 off for Labor Day. North Branford has three vacations scheduled, including a holiday break in December, a February vacation despite a presentation of a petition to eliminate the break and April vacation. 

The 2013-14 year is scheduled to end on Monday, June 16. In the event of school closures, the first three will be added to the end of the school calendar to bring the last day to June 19. After those three days, makeup days will be taken from February break, starting at the end and including Presidents Day, if necessary. 

If school cancellations exceed eight days, the makeup days will be added beyond June 19.
