Rain Can't Stop North Branford's Memorial Day Parade

Rain does not dampen spirits at North Branford's Memorial Day parade.

Rain and even a bit of thunder failed to discourage either the participants or the fans of North Branford’s . Led by a color guard from the and fire departments, the parade got underway down Foxon Road at Commerce Drive, slightly delayed, by approximately 10:30 with the rain tailing off just in time.

Marching to music provided by the band and the Connecticut Blues Fife and Drum Corps of Durham, marchers ranged from the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to the New Haven Marine Corps Reserve. Impromptu floats were provided by some organizations such as the as well as the organizers of the event,  VFW Post 8294, which carried its Poppy Queen.

The parade ended at the reviewing stand set up on the Town Green at where the crowd heard remarks about Memorial Day from Mayor Anthony Candelora, State Representative Vincent Candelora and General Jerry Ottenbreit, U.S. Army.
