On Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 7 p.m., there will be a Prayer Service for peace in Syria, the Middle East, and the world held at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, 355 Foxon Road (Rt. 80) East Haven, CT.
This prayer service is in response to Pope Francis' call to all people of good will to be united on that day by acts of prayer and fasting for the cause of peace in the world. The prayer service, in keeping with the directives of the Holy Father, will be offered in a spirit of penance.
Father John Lavorgna, pastor of Our Lady of Pompeii Church, will preside.
The service will include prayers for peace, the Liturgy of the Word, communal recitation of the Holy Rosary, Adoration and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, periods of silence, and points of meditation upon the words of Pope Francis and his recent predecessors in the Papacy on matters of world peace.
The prayer service is open to the public.
