Meet Robbie Massores, Owner of Good to Go

Meet the chef and owner of one of North Branford's early morning eateries.

It's still dark as I pull up to just a few minutes past 6 a.m. Bright neon signs reading "Open" alert early bird passersby that their morning commute doesn't have to be on an empty stomach.

Darting out of the rain and into the empty restaurant, I'm greeted by a good morning shout out from the open kitchen just beyond the counter. Robbie Massores is already busy preparing for the day, looking unnaturally fresh and awake next to my own puffy face, still marked with lines from my pillow. I'm offered a much needed cup of strong coffee and Massores spares a few valuable minutes to catch up with North Branford Patch.

Massores: The menu selection - you get extreme diversity from us. We like variety. We change our specials every day, it gives me the freedom to play around.

North Branford Patch: What brought you into this business?

Massores: I've had 23 years in the service industry. My wife and I are co-owners of this place. We've got a great partnership here and at home. This allows us time with the young ones. We're able to sit down and have a family dinner every night.

North Branford Patch: What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Massores: Just talking to the people and finding out how grateful they are that you're there.

North Branford Patch: What do you want your customers to know about your business?

Massores: We give people better quality than, say, McDonald's. We do good, fast food. We get people from all walks of life. We'll get the lawyer in here as well as the lawn–it's a melting pot.

North Branford Patch: How are you involved in the community?

Massores: We've offered the use of our kitchen for the Chili Fest and the Potato and Corn Festival.

It's 6:15 a.m. when I leave and I already see Robbie's third customer of the day pulling into a parking spot. The breakfast crowd is surely on its way and I'm thinking I'll go home to steal another hour of sleep.

When Massores isn't cooking before sunrise, he is spending time with his wife and two little girls.
