Cake Decorating Class at the Smith Library

Sign up for our four week cake decorating class that will teach you how to decorate like the pros. 

 Please bring a Wilton Method of Cake Decorating® Course 1 – Decorating Basics Student Kit

(**Available at Michaels or Joann Fabrics and Crafts)

First Class:  Monday, July 15th, from 6:00-7:30pm

                    Monday, July 22nd, from 6:00-7:30pm

                    Monday, July 29th, from 6:00-7:30pm

Final Class: Monday, August 5th, from 6:00-7:30p

For the first three classes, we will be using the practice board included in your kit to work on as you learn new techniques that will be applied during the final class. For the final class, YOU will be responsible for bringing an 8” or 9” round cake to decorate using all of the skills you have learned.

 You will learn:

- The best way to frost a cake super smooth for decorating

- When to use thick frosting, medium frosting, or thin frosting

- The importance of decorating bags and tips

- What each decorating tip can do for your design

- How to plan out and write smooth, uniform messages in frosting

- How to create borders, shapes, and flowers

- How to create beautiful, realistic roses (not the spiral cheat kind!)
