Fighting the Good Fight...

And so it comes to a close. The race that kicked off just before Christmas is nearing completion, with just a few Big Give teams preparing to collect more money this next week. But we Freedom Fighters along with all the other teams know this is far from the end. If anything, what we've learned throughout this project is that we must continue our missions!   

This past week, our team went door to door again, and again timed it just right to get cold and rain, but we also had a repeat of our neighbors' charity. Some people had much respect for the veterans and when we explained the Fisher House, they quickly made generous donations. But we must be careful to not become indolent. 

The Big Give may be almost over, but as long as America stands tall, the duties of our servicemen and women shall never end. We must never forget that when they come home, they need care and the love of family that the Fisher House Foundation strives to ensure.

The fact that people have donated, that they see this as a worthy cause proves that the new house to be constructed in West Haven will be near those who will support it. I know when I get older and have a career, the Fisher House will be an organization I won't hesitate to support, and would encourage others to do the same.  

In fact, we have to remember that all our organizations will continue to need advocates as long as there is suffering, conflict, disease and mistreatment in the world. So let's all plan to support our cause with strength and conviction even after the Big Give is over. To paraphrase Timothy, let us continue to fight the good fights, finish the races, and above all else, keep the faith.
