Sunday, Sept. 23

64th Primetime Emmy Awards, 8 p.m., ABC

Jimmy Kimmel hosts, which leaves room for some really funny video spots. No one I ever want to win actually wins, but I watch anyway, because really, is there a better way to spend Sunday night than totally annoyed?

Treme, 10 p.m., HBO

The start of a new season: “Antoine Batiste toys with martyrdom; Janette encounters an old nemesis and a new suitor; Delmond and Albert debut their album; Toni meets a new ally; LaDonna struggles with living with her in-laws.”

Dexter, 9 p.m., Showtime

They have been re-running last season as we prepare for the new shows next week. This is the episode where it really jumped the shark for me. But I am hopeful that next week they will salvage things.
