Officials Hopeful Borrelli Fire Will Be Out Soon
Smoky blaze blamed on spontaneous combustion has burned and smoldered since April 10.
officials on Friday said they believe the fire smoldering for nearly three weeks was nearly out at the Borrelli Farm, which might face for the smoke and water pollution it caused.
The New Haven Register reported Friday that officials from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection believe the brush pile fire ignited on April 10 due to spontaneous combustion and that much of the vapors still rising from pile was steam, not combustion smoke.
The East Shore Health Department issued a warning for neighbors to restrict outdoor activities that would require them to breath in the fumes from the fire.
