North Branford's Andrew Calamita Has His Eye on the Goal

Andrew has not only been successful in football and academics, but has already achieved his Eagle Scout award.

Name:  Andrew Calamita

Age: 16

School: (Junior year)

School Activities: Andrew has played football since he was six years old joining the team in 1st grade. This year he is a member of the and junior varsity team. He also participates in weight-lifting, golf, Helping Hands Club and Current Events Club.

Other Interests: Andrew likes to play guitar and hang out with his friends. He enjoys outdoor activities including fishing, kayaking and snowboarding. He has enjoyed being a member of the North Branford Ski Club for six years. 

Andrew also loves traveling with his family. He has been to 27 out of 50 states, including vacations to Alaska and Hawaii. He has been to several national Parks throughout the country including the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, The Grand Tetons, Yosemite, Denali National Park in Alaska and Volcano National Park in Hawaii.

Future Plans: Andrew wants to attend college and become an  accountant or an engineer.  

Accomplishments: Andrew became an Eagle Scout in March of 2011; His service project was designing and implementing a new garden at . He volunteered more than 100 hours to complete the project including raising $2,400 to purchase new plants for the area and lead a group of volunteers over several weekends to remove the old shrubs, prepare the area and plant the new shrubs.

Despite the tough schedule of football Andrew has remained on the honor roll through high school.
