Find out who has been the biggest influence on Chelsea Meagher, salutatorian of North Branford's Class of 2013.

As we count down to graduation on Tuesday, June 25 for North Branford High School's Class of 2013, we're taking some time to get to know some of the top students of the graduating class

Today, meet Chelsea Meagher the salutatorian of the Class of 2013, who shares her successes and the people in her life who helped her achieve them.

What activities were you involved in throughout high school? Cross Country, Indoor Track, Outdoor Track, Best Buddies, INTERACT, National Honor Society.

What was your favorite subject? Science

Who was your favorite/most influential teacher?
Mr. Daley (5th/6th grade) and Mrs. Wootton (12th grade)

What are your future plans?
Attend the University of Connecticut as a cognitive science major; pursue a career in the health sciences and overall specialize in helping those with autism.

What is the key to your success? An honest desire to learn, dedication and willingness to always try my best.

Is there anyone you would like to thank? My mother is, by far, the most influential figure in my life when it comes to education. Throughout her high school career she was constantly working. Her parents have moved from a poor farm in Puerto Rico to Connecticut when she was only 12 years of age in order to provide a better life for their children. With the transition, my mom was constantly putting forth her best effort in school while also struggling to learn English. She was also a dedicated student and wished to attend college in hopes of achieving her dreams of becoming an elementary school teacher. Unfortunately she was unable to due to financial restraints. Overall her experiences taught me to not take my opportunities for granted; she inspired me to take my education seriously because, as she proved, hard work and dedication are the only ways to make your dreams a reality. I appreciate everything my mom has done for me more than words and I hope to make her proud of me.

What will you miss about NBHS? The sense of familiarity I feel in the hallways, the sense of unity among the student body and the overall pride exhibited in our school/sports teams.
