Update: Route 80 in North Branford Reopened After Gas Line Rupture

A gas line rupture on Route 80 closed the road at Route 139 this morning.

The North Branford Police Department confirmed that the ruptured gas line has been repaired and that Route 80 reopened around noon.

Construction along the Route 80 corridor in North Branford appears to be the cause of a gas line rupture at Route 139. North Branford Fire Department  and Southern Connecticut Gas are on the scene. 

No injuries were reported in the incident but the road is closed from Big Y to Notch Hill Road. Detours are in place. 

Heading toward East Haven, traffic is being routed down Route 22 (Notch Hill Road) to Route 1. Heading toward Guilford, traffic is diverted down Twin Lakes Road to Route 139 to Route 1.
