Construction Along Route 80 Continues to Progress

Route 80 looks a little bit different every day. Here are some of the most recent photos.

Every time I drive along Route 80, there are more and more signs of progress. Church Street is done and waiting to be reopened to Route 80, Great Hill Road has been realigned and is paved and a new guardrail lines the new corner of Route 139 along Wall Field.

On Thursday, a large electronic construction sign warned drivers of the new traffic pattern for Route 139. Construction crews directed traffic along the curve of Wall Field, alternating traffic as roadwork continued along the shoulders.

"The new Route 139 entrance from Route 80 is opened as of yesterday," said Interim Town Manager Bonnie Therrien on Thursday afternoon. "The traffic is zooey there right now, as people are adapting to this, but this is a major new event for North Branford and a large part of the Route 80 work."

Representatives from the Department of Transportation were on hand to discuss the Route 80 project at the Nov. 20 Town Council meeting.
