Secretaries at all three schools confirmed that students are going about their normal days but all outside doors are locked and no one is going in or out of the schools. There will be no outside gym classes today.

At this time, it is undetermined what will happen should the lockdown extend past school hours. Seniors at NBHS will not be able to leave school early if they have study halls at the end of the day, as is usually the case.

"Until we get the all-clear, we don't want to put anyone in harm's way," said Marilyn Steiner, secretary at NBHS. "The students know what is going on and understand it is for their safety."

The staff is discouraging parents from picking their children up early from school.
