North Branford Patch: What's new in your department?
Public Works Director Fran Merola: The Wall Field project is near completion and will be available in the spring for use. I would like to thank our contractor, Venuti Enterprises, for a job well done. 

North Branford Patch: What's something residents need to know?
Merola: Fall is here and we ask residents to not blow their leaves into the road as this causes hazardous driving conditions when it rains and clogs the tops of the catch basins. Also, it is a good time to check and secure mailboxes before the winter season as the Public Works Department will no longer be replacing mailboxes hit by snow coming off of plows. The face of your mailbox should be at least 12 inches from curb or roadside to prevent the plow from hitting it.
