North Branford T-Birds’ Football Opens Tonight at Valley

In Mark Basil’s 10th season at the helm of the T-Birds, there will certainly be challenges as North Branford graduated 19 from last year’s 6-4 team, including nine of 11 from the starting offensive team. Add to that a season-opener tonight at Valley Regional, last year’s league champion.

“We bring back some good skilled players and need to rebuild our offensive line, but the talent should be good enough to contend,” said Basil. “Our opener is the biggest game of the season, though Coginchaug will be good, as well as Hyde, Cromwell and HK.”

Cory Onofrio (SE/DB), Damoy Hunter (OT/DT), Anthony Franco (G/LB) and Christian Perrotti (G/LB) captain the team with Eric Berlephsch (C/DT), Ryan Magnotti (SE/DB) and Steve Saunders (G/DE) rounding out the senior class.

The junior class includes Brandan Basil (QB), Chris Caron (RB/DB), Joe Delucia (RB/DB), Dale Hausman (RB/LB), Gary Falanga (RB/LB) and Alex McGuigan (SE/DB).
