Totoket Valley Students Enjoy Patriotic Music on Veterans Day

Students at TVES also collected supplies and donations for veterans transitioning into homes.

The students at prepared for their assembly by hosting a donation drive for veterans who are transitioning from being homeless into apartments through Section 8 housing.

Karen Ablondi, whose son attends TVES, approached Principal Kris Lindsay with the idea as she works with these veterans at the VA. Lindsay was happy to help and students brought in cleaning supplies and personal hygiene products. They also donated $1 to wear their favorite sports jersey to school on Nov. 4.

The students collected a cartful of products along with $343.55 to be donated to the VA. After the students, along with school social worker Annie Masselle, presented the donations to Captain Regina Grant and Air Force veteran Dave Morrissey, they enjoyed a concert by local musicians that made up a quintet (see video).
