Brand New Field for a Brand New Season of NBLL

It's the start of a new era for North Branford Little League, which celebrates the 2013 spring season on its new field this Saturday.

Last spring's Opening Day at Wall Field for North Branford Little League was bittersweet. Of course, the many young baseball and softball players were excited to start the season, but others, including parents and grandparents knew it was probably the last Opening Day at Wall Field.

That proved true as construction along Route 80 gave the town the opportunity at grants to aid with moving the baseball fields to the Swajchuk Property on Route 22, near Public Works and behind the police station.

Now the 2013 North Branford Little League season is here, not only marking the start of the season, but the opening of the brand new Swajchuk fields. More than 400 players have been busy practicing and Opening Day is this Saturday, April 27.

"The whole board and all the kids are very excited about the new field," said Joe Mascari, president of NBLL. "Every kid in the baseball program will play on the new field this year. We will also get a majority of the teams atleast one night game under the lights. That's something I'm really excited about."

The celebration will kick off with the traditional parade of players at 9 a.m. (players should arrive between 8:30 and 9 a.m.) and be followed by speakers, including State Senator Ed Meyer, State Representative Vin Candelora and Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro.

There will be carnival games for even the smallest visitors and NBLL gear and refreshments will also be available from the brand new concession stand equipped with all new appliances.
