NB Hockey Earns No. 3 Seed in States

The North Branford T-Birds' hockey team begins Division II State Tournament play on March 6.

The finished the 2011-12 regular season with an 11-8-1 record to earn the No. 3 seed in the Division II State Tournament. Guilford (11-7-2) and Hand (12-6-2) took the first and second seeds, respectively, both earning first-round byes.

The T-Birds will host East Catholic, which finished the regular season at 7-11-2 for the No. 14 seed, in the first round on Tuesday, March 6 at 5 p.m. at .

East Catholic is not an unfamiliar opponent as the two teams faced off on Jan. 4 with North Branford taking a 5-4 win.

Curious how the T-Birds stack up against the other top teams in the division? North Branford faced Guilford twice during the regular season, earning a 2-0 win on Jan. 27 before the Indians got their revenge with a 5-4 win on Feb. 7. On Feb. 16, the T-Birds battled to a 5-5 tie with the Hand Tigers.
